Storyline:
The novel “Still Wiser” tells the story of Gordon Wiser and Philip Glass and how they face the challenge of change. They live in a unified world democracy, under the leaderships of dual presidents. There is global peace, but world stability has been guaranteed with a right of privacy, and it is quickly superseding all other rights.
The men themselves are polar opposites, but yet they share a common desire. Happy, they want life to remain unchanged and exactly as it is. Yet, small and seemingly innocuous choices will gradually lead them both in directions contrary to their dreams.
Gordon is a content family-man in the Appalachian Mountains. He strives for a peaceful existence but finds his faith at odds with the privacy laws. He chooses God’s expectations over the world’s, foregoing the sponsored spiritual centers and worshiping at home. Unfortunately, his choices quickly grow controversial, as he involves himself in an online church, its relocation of persecuted believers and its plans for an illegal pilgrimage to the ocean floor, the space station or the moon.
Philip is a rising star in the World Department of Unity and Privacy. His specialty is technology, but his responsibilities increasingly include religion, as he investigates an online church and its Underground Railroad. An urgent case leads him to Gordon and his church. There will be a massive raid on the eve of the church’s pilgrimage, and in a day’s time the lives of both men will look radically different.
